Privacy Policy

Introduction and Data Controller: Linemitra (operated by Linemitra.com) is a mobile app that lets patients join and manage waiting queues at partner clinics. It is provided by LineMitra.com (with office at House No 1155, Sector No 6/1, Vantamuri Colony, Belagavi, Karnataka, India - 590016.). We collect only the information needed to operate this service. We include our contact information in accordance with data protection requirements. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use and share it, and your rights.

Data We Collect: We collect the following categories of information about you when you use Linemitra:

  • Account information: Your phone number (used for Firebase Phone Authentication) and, once you sign up, your full name, email address, and city. We do not store any SMS content or OTP codes after verification.
  • Device and app information: We collect your device type and operating system, and we register your Expo push notification token with our backend. Expo's documentation confirms that apps using its push service will collect and use these push tokens to deliver notifications.
  • Usage and queue data: We log when you join a clinic's queue (including the clinic's ID and your user ID) and any changes to your queue status (such as updates to your position or an alert when it's your turn). These data allow us to provide the real-time queue updates.
  • Reviews and feedback: If you choose to rate or comment on a clinic after your visit, we store the rating and any optional comment you submit. This helps us improve the service.
  • Photos (optional): If you grant permission to access your photo library, we use it only to allow you to select or upload images (for example, a profile picture or an image in a review). We do not collect any other data from your photos or use them without your explicit action.

How We Use Data: We use your information for the following purposes:

  • Provide the queue service: We use your phone number to verify and authenticate your account (via one-time passwords) and use your profile info to personalize and maintain your account.
  • Send notifications: We use your phone number to send SMS messages during sign-up (for OTP) and, where enabled, to place automated voice calls notifying you when your queue turn is near. We also use push notifications to update you about queue status (position changes, clinic call, etc.). We rely on your consent to receive these notifications. (For example, under GDPR we rely on "performance of a contract" for OTP verification and on your consent for push or voice updates.)
  • Improve and operate the service: We analyze aggregated usage data (such as queue lengths and wait times) to improve Linemitra and fix technical issues. We do not sell your personal data or use it for advertising.

Who We Share Data With: We share your information only with the parties necessary to operate the app:

  • Our Backend Server: All Linemitra data (account details, queue actions, reviews) are stored on our secure servers. This is how we provide and maintain the service.
  • Firebase (Google): We send your phone number to Google's Firebase Authentication service for login/verification. Firebase may share data as described in its policies.
  • Expo (Push Notifications): We send your push token to Expo's push notification service so you receive queue updates on your device. Expo's documentation states it collects these tokens to enable push notifications.
  • Automated Call Provider: We share your phone number and a minimal message reference with a voice-calling provider to deliver automated queue call alerts (e.g., when it's your turn at the clinic). This information is used only for service-related communication and handled under strict confidentiality.
  • Other services: We do not share your data with any analytics, advertising, or payment providers beyond what's described above. We will not sell your personal information. (If we ever add new third-party services, we will update this policy.)

Data Retention and Security: We retain personal data only as long as needed for the purposes described. For example, we may keep a queue and review records for a reasonable period (such as up to 12 months) to maintain service continuity. When data is no longer needed (for instance, after an account is deleted or a clinic visit is long past), we delete or anonymize them. As Expo notes, we follow best practices by retaining information "only for so long as reasonably necessary". We use industry-standard security measures to protect your data: all communications are encrypted with HTTPS, and we authenticate requests using secure tokens (like Firebase ID tokens). We maintain reasonable safeguards to prevent unauthorized access. Notably, when you sign out of Linemitra, we immediately remove your Expo push token from our backend so you will no longer receive notifications.

Your Rights: You have certain rights under applicable privacy laws, including:

  • Access and correction: You can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you and correct any inaccuracies.
  • Deletion: You can ask us to delete your Linemitra account and personal data. (We will erase or anonymize your data upon request, subject to any legal obligations to retain certain records.)
  • Withdrawal of consent: You can withdraw any consent you've given for non-essential processing (for example, you may disable push notifications in your device or app settings).
  • Complaint: If you believe we are mishandling your data, you can lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Children's Privacy and International: Linemitra is intended for use by adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children under age 13 (and in any case, anyone under 18 in India should use the app only with parental consent). If we learn we have unintentionally collected a child's data, we will delete it promptly. Our service is offered only in India; if you access it from outside India, you do so at your own risk and must comply with local laws.

Changes to This Policy: We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time (for example, to reflect new features or legal requirements). When we make changes, we will update the "Last updated" date below and notify you of material changes (for example, via an in-app notification or email). Your continued use of Linemitra after a change indicates your acceptance of the updated policy. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
